RED Gardens project and Ecovillage

This RED Gardens Project, (Research Education and Development), consists of 6 family scale gardens each one 100m2 (1000sqf) and following a different methodology, or approach to growing vegetables.
There is also a larger Black Plot, of about 1000m2 (1/4 acre) which is exploring issues and possibilities of an intermediate scale growing space.
Bruce Darrell manages all of the gardens and related research projects, as well as scripting, filming, illustrating, and editing the videos on his channel:

  1. As a family, 6 of us explored the veg plots at Cloughjordan yesterday, thoroughly enjoying what we saw. We grow some veg organically too, but without tunnels, in W. Cork & Dublin. We understood most of it, but we’re puzzled by the tiny hinged topped Perspex microclimates, for 4 courgettes (?) grown closely together. Do you transplant them later, & we guess the big water bottles moderate local changes in temperature. Rather than being a trickle watering system? We especially love the little neat, small, pallet-built seat/storage shed, combined, with sloped roof. My own work is on Irish traditional vernacular furniture, you might perhaps enjoy inspiration from my books as there’s a lot of dual purpose design there…(see my website below). You are doing such good things. Next time we’d like to book a tour perhaps.
    Keep up the good work!
